Maestros de la animación/1

Otro post que encantará a los fanáticos de las listas. En 1987 John Halas, el director de "Rebelión en la granja", realiza el documental "Maestros de la animación" en el que selecciona en cuatro partes cuáles son a su juicio los autores más importantes de la animación mundial hasta ese momento (sin ningún atisbo de modestia se incluye a sí mismo). Como veréis, más de la mitad del listado son autores europeos.

1. Walt Disney (se supone que toda su obra)


2. Chuck Jones (a un nivel comparable a W.Disney)


3. John Hubley y Faith Hubley (creadores de Mr. Magoo para los estudios UPA), elige "Everybody Rides the Carosel" como su mejor obra)


4. Barrie Nelson (Opens Wednesday, que es un experimento de animación sobre cel)


5. Caroline Leaf . De la conocida autora de animación sobre arena elige "The Owl who Married a Goose".


6. Norman McLaren, uno de los más experimentales animadores de todos los tiempos, fue el que se encargó del Departamento de Animación en el National Film of Board de Canadá. "Neighbours" es su cortometraje más asequible, de hecho ganó un Óscar. (Existe una anécdota al respecto: McLaren se encontraba en la India participando en un proyecto social cuando recibió un telegrama avisándole del premio. Él contesto ingenuamente: "Gracias, pero ¿quién es Óscar?")


7. Frederick Back (Crac!) Otro autor adscrito al National Film of Board de Canadá.


8. Ishu Patel (How Death Came to Earth). También perteneciente al NFB de Canadá.
